33Having spent the past few years travelling all over the world having adventures I thought it was high time to start recording and sharing some of my experiences. The idea of this website is to keep family, friends and anyone else who´s interested up to date with my life.
I am a 33 year old kayaker from North-East England, and I love being outdoors, travelling and exploring with my kayak. I started kayaking with Hexham Canoe Club on the River Tyne when I was 10 years old and haven´t stopped since. I spent a number of years competing in the discipline of Wild Water Racing with highlights being becoming Junior World and European Champion as well as a silver medal at Senior Europeans and 5th place finishes at the Senior Worlds. I studied for a BSc Natural Sciences (Chemistry, Maths, Physics and Philosophy) at Durham University and graduated with 1st Class Honours. After, I spent another year at Durham studying for a PGCE in Secondary Science with school placements in Hartlepool and Stockton. This degree helped me obtain my position as a teacher and assistant coach at World Class Academy, the travelling kayaking high school, where I spent 2 years teaching all over the world. Then I got to spend a chill year kayaking all over Peru and Chile before joining Ottawa Kayak School in Canada for the summer to dial in some playboating. After coming to New Zealand on a working holiday back in 2016, I fell in love with it here and have become a resident. I'm currently based on the West Coast of the South Island but spend a lot of time travelling around the world with a kayak.
For any questions, or if you want more information about any of the places I´ve been, or just want to say hello then get in touch using the contact form.
Cheers!
Sandra
